     Josh Rzepka was born in Akron, Ohio in 1984. He is a recent graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, with a degree in classical trumpet and jazz performance. His trumpet teachers at Oberlin were Roy Poper (classical) and Kenny Davis (jazz). He started playing the trumpet while in the 4th grade.

While in High school Josh was invited to be a member of the Tri-C Jazz-fest High-school All-Star Big Band. Performing with the All-Star Band, Josh shared the stage with many artists including Christian McBride, John and Jeff Clayton, Dennis Mackrell, as well as opening for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, and Gregory Hines. Josh also performed at the IAJE mid-west conference, the Tri-C Jazz-Fest, as well as the Monterey Jazz Festival, as part of a High school invitational where only ten bands from the entire country were invited to perform.

During Josh's senior year in High school, Josh was the recipient of numerous awards for his Jazz playing. Leading a jazz combo, he took best soloist award at the Akron Jazz-Fest High school invitational, as well as winning scholarships at both the Tri-C Jazz-Fest, and Lakeland Jazz-Fest for attending the Summer Program at Berklee School of Music. Josh was also selected during his senior year to perform in the All-State Jazz Band, and to play in a master-class for Wynton Marsalis at the University of Akron.

While still in high school Josh and his friend Brian Batchelor-Glader started their own big band, the Big Band Connection. The Big Band Connection has performed at at the Cleveland Bop Stop, Rizzies Restaurant, North Side in Akron, as well as at Ellet High school in conjunction with their Jazz Festival, amongst other performances.

While at Oberlin Josh performed with the Oberlin Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, as well as with other ensembles. Josh has also had appearances with many different groups and artists including the Ashland Symphony Orchestra, various brass ensembles, and has given and performed in recitals in Oberlin, and Akron.

Josh has also had the pleasure of taking lessons, and studying with Charles Schlueter (Principal Trumpet Boston Symphony), Scott Johnston (Principal Trumpet, Akron, Canton Symphonies), Ian Indorf (Local Freelance Musician), and Charlie Lewis (Founding member of Empire Brass).

Josh studied jazz trumpet with Kenny Davis at Oberlin. Josh has performed with the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble (OJE) as well as in many different jazz combos. While performing with the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble, Josh has had the great pleasure of sharing the same stage with jazz greats Marcus Belgrave, Gary Bartz and Slide Hampton.

Outside of Oberlin Josh has had numerous appearances, with many different groups and artists. Performing at the Cleveland Bop Stop, Reinberger Hall at Severance Hall, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Blossom Music Center, John S. Knight Center, Weathervane theatre, Beck Center, Finney Chapel, North Side in Akron, Rizzies Restaurant, Tri-C metro campus, the State Theater, Allen Theater, appearances on the FOX Morning Show, as well as performances at many other regional venues. Past performances have been with Sammy DeLeon y Su Orquesta, Big Band Connection, Jazz Unit, Kenny Davis, Greg Bandy, Bob Frasier, Mike Petrone, as well as numerous other social and private engagements.

Active in many other genres as well, Josh has performed in the pits for over twenty-four different musicals. Recording credits include, "Temporary Romance, by Scott Stein" as well as "aural capacity vol. 3, Student Works 2005 Oberlin Conservatory of Music". Josh is currently the Trumpet teacher at the Avon School of music, and Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio.
